Titanium carbide is a typical transition metal carbide. It has the basic characteristics of high hardness, high melting point, wear resistance and electrical conductivity. It forms binary, ternary and quaternary solid solution compounds with tungsten carbide, tantalum carbide, niobium carbide, and titanium nitride. It is used in spraying materials, welding materials, hard film materials, military aviation materials, hard alloys and cermets.
